Hypnosis for cravings and snacking
A craving can feel like it has a life of its own. You’re not hungry, you weren’t thinking about food, and then suddenly the biscuits are all you can think about.
Snacking works in a similar way. Much of it happens on autopilot: the handful of crisps while you cook, the chocolate at the till, the trip to the fridge every time you walk past. None of it feels like a decision, which is exactly why willpower struggles with it.
Why cravings happen
Cravings are often learned. If you’ve had chocolate every afternoon at three for years, your brain starts asking for it at three, whether you’re hungry or not. Stress, tiredness and skipped meals make cravings stronger, and the foods we crave most are usually the ones designed to be hard to stop eating.
Things you can try today
- Notice the time, place and feeling when a craving shows up
- Wait ten minutes before you decide, and the urge often passes
- Don’t keep the foods you crave within arm’s reach
- Eat proper meals so you’re not snacking to fill a gap
- Swap one automatic snack for a drink of water or a short walk
How I work with it
In our sessions we pin down your particular cravings and the moments they show up. In hypnosis I help you change how those foods feel to you, so they lose some of their pull, and rehearse the moment of choice so you can pause instead of reaching on autopilot. Many clients find the cravings become weaker and easier to ignore.

Common questions
Is sugar addictive?
Sugar can create strong habits and cravings, and some people find certain foods very hard to stop eating. Whether you call it an addiction or a habit, the practical steps are similar: notice the pattern, change your surroundings and practise a new response.
Will I never want chocolate again?
That isn’t the goal. Most people want to be able to enjoy a treat without it taking over. Hypnosis aims to put you back in charge of the choice.
Can I work on more than one craving?
Yes. We usually start with the one that causes you the most trouble, and the others often get easier along the way.
