Work with Adam

I work one to one over Zoom with adults who want to change how they eat. Here’s how it works and what it costs.

Adam Cox, clinical hypnotherapist, ready for a Zoom session in his studio

How it works

  1. Book a consultation callWe talk through what’s going on and whether I’m the right person to help. The £49 fee comes off your first session.
  2. Choose your sessionsPick a single session or a package. Sessions never expire, and the price is locked in even if my rates go up.
  3. Meet over ZoomEvery session is built around you, and you get a studio-quality recording of the hypnosis to keep.

What a session involves

Your first session starts with a detailed look at your eating: your history, what you’ve tried, and what you want to be different. Each session then combines conversation, practical habit change and hypnosis, which is a focused, relaxed state where you stay aware and in control. We finish by agreeing one or two things to practise before we meet again.

About me

I’m a clinical hypnotherapist with 17 years in practice. I have a degree in psychology, and a Postgraduate Certificate and Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy, both with Distinction, from the London College of Clinical Hypnosis and the University of West London.

I know what it’s like to carry weight you don’t want. I changed my own eating and training using the same approaches I now use with clients, so I won’t ask you to do anything I haven’t done myself.

I built my practice on Harley Street in London and now work with clients online. I host The Hypnotist podcast, which has passed 20 million downloads, and I’m regularly asked to talk about hypnosis, habits and weight on TV, radio and in the press.

A client’s story

Maria came to me wanting to lose weight. She went for the odd jog but always saw it as a chore. Rather than focus on food rules, we worked on how she saw herself. In hypnosis she began to think of herself as a runner. She joined a running club, bought proper kit, and went on from her first 10k to train for a marathon. The changes in her eating followed from the new way she saw herself.

Individual results vary. Shared with permission.

Common questions

Are sessions only online?

Yes. All sessions are over Zoom, so you can work with me from home, wherever you live.

What happens on the consultation call?

We talk through what’s going on, what you’ve tried and what you’d like to change. I’ll be honest about whether I can help, and if you need other support first, I’ll tell you.

How many sessions will I need?

Many people with one clear habit do well with three sessions. Long-standing or several habits usually need five or more. We agree this together.

Can I buy sessions for someone else?

Yes. Packages of five or more sessions can be shared with a friend or family member.

Is it confidential?

Yes. What you tell me stays between us. As with any therapist, the only exception is if I believed you or someone else were at serious risk of harm.

Who is it not suitable for?

I work with adults only. If you have an eating disorder, I’ll only work alongside the professionals treating you, and only if they agree. If you have epilepsy, psychosis or another serious mental health condition, please tell me on the consultation call.

If you’re eating very little, making yourself sick, or feel your eating is out of your control, please speak to your GP, or contact Beat, the UK eating disorder charity, on 0808 801 0677. These are signs that need proper support, and I’ll always tell you if hypnotherapy isn’t the right first step.
